Learning Gate will be having its annual EcoFest event on April 2nd. EcoFest is a family friendly community event organized by Learning Gate Community School to celebrate the many businesses, organizations, and individuals in the Tampa Bay area dedicated to the principles of sustainability –Ecology, Equity and Economy.
EcoFest 2011 will be held on April 2, 2011 on the school grounds from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M.
Admission to the event is free.
There will be speakers, live music, workshops, demonstrations, informational booths, green living products and services. Some local artists, green businesses, environmental organizations, alternative health practitioners, renewable energy specialists, organic farms and gardens with produce will be on hand.
Students will have environmental displays and workshops set-up throughout the campus. We are pleased to have Lowry Park Zoo this year with an interactive animal display. Our current sponsors are Parenting Magazine, Going Green Tampa Bay, Local Shops 1, Nvirotech and Lowes.
We are really excited to have Dr. Daniel Yeh representing USF. Dr. Yeh will be speaking on “Bioenergy –Harnessing nature to turn waste into renewable energy.” I will also be speaking on “Green Jobs – in the emerging low carbon economy.”
